NBS Researchers Receive $200,000 SSHRC Grant for Public-Private Working Group

Network for Business Sustainability is pleased to have been awarded a Partnership Development Grant through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The federal government awards these grants to create partnerships among the academic, private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

NBS received $199,800 for its proposal to build working groups comprised of researchers and business partners to co-create and implement existing sustainability knowledge. The culture working group will draw on the 2010 systematic review on organizational culture.

Leading this project are Tima Bansal, executive director at NBS and professor at Western University, Stephanie Bertels, culture topic editor and assistant professor at Simon Fraser University, and Jennifer Howard-Grenville, associate professor at the University of Oregon. Working with Canadian companies across a range of sectors, the researchers will seek to determine how sustainability is most effectively embedded in corporate culture. (Stylerecap)

The research team is expected to gain novel, relevant insights on emergent business sustainability issues both to further their own research and to help address real business challenges.

“We’re delighted to have SSHRC’s support in this new initiative,” says Bansal. “We hope this project will result in critical insights for all organizations – not just those in the working group. By collaborating with NBS, the companies involved will be promoting thought leadership and enabling business sustainability in Canada and around the world.” .
